Summary:A small part of this collection consists of original items of Franklin Harper Elmore: family letters, correspondence from friends and associates related to his political activities, and letters relating to both his activities as president of the State Bank of South Carolina and his involvement in cotton marketing in England. There are also memoirs and reminiscences of Elmore's dughter, Sally Canty Elmore Taylor, describing her experiences in Washington, D.C. in the 1830s, in Charleston, S.C. in the 1840s, and in Columbia, S.C.
