Summary:Abstract: The concept of national food strategies and the essential steps of food strategy preparation for developing countries, are summarized in a booklet for development assistance agencies, officials of developing nations, and those interested in food problems and ways of overcoming them. Specific planning issues (e.g., distribution, research, and land reform) are stressed and examples cited. It is concluded that programs, policies, and managerial and technical capacities in the food and agricultural sectors must be strengthened if global food needs are to be met. Resources, both human or monetary, must be properly allocated to accomplish the task. (kbc)
