Notes: | staff notation Manuscript in the hands of several copyists. Title from elaborately decorated title page on front pastedown of each volume. Work number appears after composer's name on title page. Place of production inferred from inclusion of English composers and English early provenance. Dated to the first quarter of the 18th century based on paper watermarks (late 17th- or early 18th-century) and ca.1700 date of composition for Gottfried Finger's op. 5. Watermark: Strasbourg lily in shield, surmounted by crown, over "4" and letters "WR"; countermark: "IHS" and cross extending from crossbar of H. Volume for Violino I includes table of contents at end with several false attributions. Contents from RISM. Shelfmark: Chicago, Illinois, University of Chicago Library, Ms959.
