Summary:The nine documents that comprise the Ganges Neolithic collection describe the agricultural societies that inhabited the area of the Ganges River valley and its tributaries from approximately 4000 B.P -2500 B.P. Sant's work provides a general overview of Neolithic culture in the region, and discusses geography and settlement as well as agricultural, economic, and technological aspects. Suveys of nearly two-dozen Neolithic sites are included with emphasis on those at Mahagara, Koldihwa and Chirand. The document Epi-palaeolithic to Neolithic and works by Misra and Sharma provide more detailed information on Mahagara and Koldihwa. Works by Narain, Sinha, Atul Kumar Verma, and B.S. Verma give detailed descriptions of Chirand, with particular emphasis on bone, ceramic, and stone industries. Clark and Khanna describe Kunjhun II, a site located in the Middle Son valley.
