Summary:Through the testimonies of the local weavers the Cosmovision around the traditional textile folk art of the people of the island of Taquile, in Puno (Peru) is documented. The book covers the teaching of the process of weaving that begins at childhood, to the fine and complex pieces by accomplished adults, the design elements, and the use in creating clothing and a very helpful section on the authority of costumes (worn by different members of the community). The testimonies of children, and adults reflect the social, gender and cultural importance of this craftsmanship. This is a cultural heritage that has survived despite modernity, globalization and difficult economic times. Published by the INC and Unesco, the book was published within the framework of the "Proyecto de fortalecimiento de la transmisión del conocimiento del arte textil de la isla de Taquile"
