Summary:Important study on the Cusco Cathedral and its collection of colonial paintings of the Cusqueña School. The temple's structure is connected with 2 lateral chapels: to the east the "Church of Triumph" (the triumph of the Spanish conquerors over the Quechua Indians, the triumph of Catholicism over the Inka religion) and the "Church of the Holy Family" westward. The paintings include several original canvases with a strong Flemish influence; painted around 16th and 17 centuries by Quechua artist Marcos Zapata (b. Cusco, Marcos Sapaca Inca), one of the last members of the Cuzco School.
