Summary:Summary: The Brazilian photographer Bárbara Wagner (b.1980) achieved instant recognition with her first substantial photo series, Brasília Teimosa. For two years she recorded the activities of the eccentric bathers at the Brasília Teimose beach in Recife. Tanned transvestites, macho men and other colourful characters have been portrayed with one thing in common: they all belong to a socially excluded class which has found a refuge at this beach. This publication brings together for the first time a substantial selection from her recent work including her Wedding series in China and the trailer park residents in the Netherlands. Interview with Wagner by Roel Arkesteijn and an essay by Cristiana Tejo.
