Summary:In 1999 the Museum of Modern Art of Bogotá (MAMBo) presented the exhibition "Arte y Violencia en Colombia desde 1948" curated by Álvaro Medina. The collection of multiple and diverse artworks inspired in violence -an endemic condition in Colombia since the 1940s- gave author Malagón-Kurka the possibility of analyzing the contrasts and similar "index" signs in the artwork of 3 contemporary Colombian artists. The study includes a parallel analysis of the national events and the political and social processes happening in Colombia for the last decades, highlighting the relevant aspects of the historical context under which each work were created.
