Summary: | Based on a true story, the film takes place in the 1870's in a small South Carolina mill town founded and built by a pioneering industrialist whose son was shot and killed by a village youth. The youth was tried and hanged without ever giving an explanation for his deed. The film is a fictional attempt to use this actual murder case to explore what life was like in a factory village in the early years of the South's industrial revolution.
