Summary:	Copyright expires seventy years after the author's death. But does it remain the same as during the author's lifetime or does it change? Can the successors make unrestricted use of the copyright and even disfigure the works? A comparative analysis of the German and French law shows a different understanding of the function and extent of the copyright after the author's death.
