Summary: | Book dedicated to Tomás Gutiérrez Alea "Titón" (b Cuba, 1928-1996) the legendary director of more than 20 films, documentaries and short films including acclaimed movies like 'Historias de la revolución' (1960); 'Muerte del subdesarrollo' (1968); 'Fresa y Chocolate' (1993) and the popular 'Guantanamera' (1995). His widow, actress Mirtha Ibarra presents for the first time the transcriptions of the vast correspondence -organized in chronological order from 1951 to 1996- that Gutiérrez Alea had with Carlos Saura, Costa Gavras, Robert Redford, José Luis Borau, Carlos Fuentes and Juan Goytisolo, amongst many others and that account for the creative life of this influent Cuban cineast. Also includes texts, drawings and images by Titón, a filmography and commentaries by Sidney Pollack, Carlos Saura and Julio García Espinosa.
