Summary: | Filmed in alleys, gutters, laundromats and various deserted areas around Baltimore, Maryland, this is known as "the gutter film." This John Waters original stars the thoroughly luscious Divine as a blonde bombshell-- decked out from head to toe in gold capri pants and haltertop, along with a pair of gold six inch heels straight from Fredericks of Hollywood. Here Divine is real "trashy splendor." She chews gum, drives a red 1959 Cadillac convertible and gives lots of that Divine wiggle. This is the story of a young fashion fanatic who leaves her home only to meet a foot fetishist who gives her a "shrimp job" in a local park. From here on out "outrageous" is the name of the game-- a nude hitchhiker, a laundromat miracle, a mental institution inhabited by topless dancers, and a dastardly doctor named Dr. Coat Hanger.
