Summary:Two scenarios are presented in Spanish that serve as examples of interpersonal counseling. The cases of David and Sonya are used to demonstrate situations that may occur in families of Latino origin living in the United States. Further, these cases can be applied to the training of counselors in Spanish-speaking countries. Viewers should focus on what is taking place in the sessions and in the counselors' facilitation of the communication process. Dr. Virginia Quinonez and Dr. Carlos Pozzi demonstrate basic principles essential for the practice of counseling and apply them throughout the sessions. At the same time, you will observe behaviors that are relevant within the diversity of the Latino culture. Ultimately, you will have confirmation of the value of cultural competencies in counselor training.
