Summary: | Angelica Arenal, wife of David Alfaro Siqueiros. (b. Chihuahua, 1898 - Cuernavaca, 1974) one of the three Mexican Muralists of the second half of the 20th century, saved all the critical texts written about his noted husband. "It hasn't been easy trying to summarize half a century of given opinions over the art and life of David Alfaro Siqueiros. I just needed to open the first drawer of his archive, chronologically organized, so it would burst, like a river with hundreds of tributaries, the immense flow of critical texts which I already knew, but that impressed me for their number." (Our translation) --Pages 7. This careful selection comprises over 100 critical texts that span from his early art works: the mural of the Colegio Chico de la Preparatoria (1922-1923), his first exhibition in the Casino Español (1932) and in 1933, his murals in Los Angeles, California to the texts written soon after his death. Includes texts written by Anita Brenner, Orson Wells, Fernando Gamboa, Raquel Tibol, Dr. Atl, Julio Scherer, Alberto Rossi, Berta Taracena, Pablo Neruda, Luis Cardoza y Aragón, José Revueltas and many more.
