Summary:The first of two volumes, 'Tell It to My Heart' introduces the collection of artist, curator and editor Julie Ault (born 1957), along with detailed commentary from diverse voices. Ault cofounded the New York artists' collaborative Group Material, which explored the relationship between art, activism and politics. Over the course of her 35-plus years at the forefront of New York's art culture, Ault has amassed a superb collection of contemporary art, most of it given to her by artist friends and admirers. Almost more of an interiors book in the style of Apartamento magazine, 'Tell It to My Heart' takes us through Ault's New York apartment, reproducing works by artists such as Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Roni Horn, Tim Rollins & K.O.S., Andres Serrano, Nancy Spero and Danh Vo among many others. 0Exhibition: Kunstmuseum Basel, Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Switzerland (2.2.-12.5.2013) / Culturgest, Lisbon, Portugal (21.6-8.9.2013).
